When we saw this had landed in Hong Kong water, our heart skipped a beat. If you have tried the Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot and you love a Chardonnay then you know why we are excited! It is a confident Chardonnay with flavours of Lemon curd, nectarine, honeysuckle and custard powder flavours. One to try over and over!
Sailor Seeks Horse are by far and away one of Tasmania's hottest new producers. They are a small batch operation in every sense of the word - a husband and wife team doing it all themselves; Paul looking after the vineyards and Gill as the winemaker. They have a genuine cult following - not just a few articles and posts on social media - old school collectors wanting to get their hands on the limited production wines. How lucky are we!
From The Winemaker
The season ticked along without much fuss until we approached picking time. After an arid summer, a 60mm rain event came a couple of weeks before harvest and split some of the smaller berries (‘chicks’). This was somewhat stressful but fortunately, they dried up soon after and we were thankful to the Lubianas for lending us a ‘shaker table’ that removes those shriveled berries as they move along it after being destemmed. It's often the 'one-percenters' that elevate the wines to a different level in these years.
Much like 2018, this release is one we're quietly confident about and hope that you enjoy as much as us!
